Isaiah 40:8 (NLT)8 The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.”
Wow! Today’s readings are chock-a-block full of incredible passages. I could literally spend a month of verse of the day reflections just on Isaiah 40, but the reading continues through Isaiah 41-44:5. But let’s focus on this verse. The idea and theme of humanity being like grass and our achievements like the beauty of flowers. When we think about our legacy in life, what award, accomplishment, or achievement will automatically last throughout the ages. When we even look at the things that have lasted, we often have little idea who should receive credit because we have literally forgotten about them. However, the legacy that lasts is the one that is based on the Word of God, which will stand forever! That is why it is essential that we share our faith with those around us, share our faith with our spouses, and teach our faith to our children. Monday began Summers Best 2 Weeks at LPC. We are in I think our approximately 40+ years of sharing the idea that God is first, others are second, and “I am Third” with the children and youth of West Mifflin. That is a legacy built on God’s Word that will last and be extended beyond the flashiness of this world and into God’s very presence. Enjoy today’s reading! You can send back to me, YOUR FAVORITE VERSE from today! Peace and Blessings, Pastor Bob
