Psalm 29:6 (NLT)
6 He makes Lebanon’s mountains skip like a calf; he makes Mount Hermon leap like a young wild ox.
It is interesting how recently West Mifflin was largely farmland. There are still people living in West Mifflin who grew up on farms in West Mifflin. However, there are fewer and fewer people who can identify themselves as having grown up on farms, so I doubt there are many of us who have seen a calf skip or a young wild ox leap. Therefore watch these two short videos!
The psalmist tells us that God’s voice is like a jumping calf and leaping young wild ox. When I see these videos, I think of the joy there is in God’s voice. God speaks to us in His Holy Word and in the Word made Flesh, Jesus Christ! When we listen and hear His Word, doesn’t the Holy Spirit in our hearts leap and jump. We come to understand God’s love and God’s direction. It is a blessing to come to know who God is sharing with us and God rejoices in the fact that we hear and respond. God is joy!
