Psalm 3:5 (NLT)
5 I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the Lord was watching over me.
Psalm 3 is a song of David when he fled from Absalom. David is running and trying to get away from Absalom, who has every intention to kill him and take his crown. Absalom also happened to be his son, so it was definitely a rough time for David. However, despite the fact that David is fleeing, Absalom has rebelled against him, and there are others who David trusted who also betrayed him, David knows that he can sleep with the knowledge that God is watching over him. Amy Grant sang a song, “Angels Watching Over Me,” which indicated that we all have some sort of “guardian angels,” which is not attested to in Scripture. What is attested is that God watches over us and leads us along His paths. We should all take great comfort in the knowledge that God, who never rests, never sleeps, and never needs a break is always and forever watching over us, loving us, and guiding us through His Holy Spirit, and through the resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ, ever closer to the day when we stand and stay in his presence. Praise God for His Love and Devotion. Peace and Blessings
