If you had one thing to ask of God with the certainty it would be given to you, what would it be? Don’t try the proverbial trick of being able to ask for a million more things! All you get is one request. What would it be? Long life (but you forgot to include healthy), or even you included healthy, can we literally live too long when everyone we know is gone. Would that really be the thing? What about money and wealth? How fleeting is that if everyone around you just wants things and look to you as the trough to get it. There are few things we could ask for that would not wind up boom a ranging back on us. However, the psalmist asks for something incredibly simple and enduring. Dwelling in the house of the Lord is a mental, emotional, and spiritual preparedness to look towards God all the days of your life, and trust that God is with you. Finding that element of peace and security is an amazing blessing in the knowledge that we can ask God anything, and then everything will be revealed to us in the perfect and proper time. God offers us the peace and rest that surpasses all understanding when we look first and foremost to Him and His Son for our lives, our joy, and our hope. Peace and Blessings!
