Day 5 - Soup Kitchen

Day 5 - LeeAnn

Being down in Mexico so far has reminded me of why I wanted to come down in the first place. Going to church on Wednesday night really showed that. Seeing all of the people lifting their hands and fully focusing and surrendering themselves to God is one of the most amazing things to me. Some people down here have close to nothing and yet they still praise God with everything they have within them. That’s one of the biggest reasons of why I love it down here. Seeing their relationships with God gives me a drive to see how much better I could come closer to God.

Today being at the soup kitchen was just another example of the people sharing God’s love. This place was created for the kids that don’t have much to at least have one good meal a day. The women that work here are all volunteers and the director of it has been working there for 20 years. We got the chance to be part of the staff there today and feed the kids. We also got to bring them ice cream and do crafts with them. I think the crafts were my favorite part. being able to interact with the kids there was so much fun. Not only were they excited and outgoing but they were all very kind and patient. This is definitely another reason of why I came down here. Spending time with those kids, the boys at Oasis, and Victoria, the girl at the house we fixed the roof at, are all so much fun. Seeing all of the people I met last time has also been really fun and getting to spend time with them has been great. This trip so far has been nothing less than what I was expecting it to be and I absolutely love it down here.
