Day 5 - Church, Village Ministry, and Cards

Today was our last full day in Mexico. This is always a hard day to get through. You find yourself fighting feeling of missing home, but at the same time not wanting to leave your new brothers and sisters. Today we started by attending the Caring Hearts Church service and listened to pastor Francisco deliver a message on charity and giving. It was a great message and followed by celebrating communion with the whole congregation. After the service we went to a restaurant with the families that do so much for the ministry.

Our last day we were able to go out and do one last serving of beans, rice, and candy to the surrounding neighborhood. Adalberto took us out to share the word and pray for those in need just a few blocks away from Oasis. When we finished handing out the last bag of beans and candy we headed back to start the process of packing up our things. Most of the group was packed by early evening when we had out last meal cooked by Isabela (the lady who made all of our delicious dinners). Dining with Isabela has been such a great experience for the entire group, she made our meals but also showed us her secrets to cooking authentic Mexican food.

Once everyone finished their meals and the packing that could be finish before our departure at 7:15am,  the group just sat around and played cards, laughed, and shared testimonies and stories our the adventure we all just experienced. We will all miss the people we have met and the times we had, but that is just fuel for the flame to bring us back again next time. Until then please pray for our brothers and sisters in San Luis, and pray for us as we begin our journey home.

A Word From LeeAnn (1st trip to Mexico):

Today something that really stood out to me was the church service. Seeing how the people praise and worship the Lord here is really inspiring. They give everything they have to God and seeing that is really cool. Even though I didn’t get to hear the message, I got to spend some time with the kids that go there. They were super excited to do the crafts we had for them and that was cool to see.

Another thing that really stood out to me this week was after I gave my testimony. You would never expect how many emotions come over you when you share things like that. The thing that caught me after though was when a guy came up to me, who lived near where we were talking, and hugged me and thanked me for giving my testimony. I never thought I was going to have all of the feeling I had after sharing that and they really just overwhelmed me. It felt really good sharing my testimony and I wouldn’t have changed anything about it. Also when I was sharing it, some of my fears came up. We talked the night before about them and one of mine was the dark and what can come out of it. As it turns out, I gave my testimony during the night and what came out of it was a very good thing. Seeing how God works in our lives after looking back is really cool to see. He put one of my fears in front of me and I went through it. Even though I didn’t overcome that fear it was cool to see how God used that in my life.
