Today we are starting the adventure with a flight from Pittsburgh to Phoenix. God has blessed this group with a beautiful day to travel. Starting out the lines for security were lengthy but they moved quite quickly and before we knew it we were sitting in a Quaker Steak eating a meal together before our flight boarded.
We are all wearing our matching shirts with a word cloud graphic (a collage of words from all of our favorite verses) on the front and Lebanon Church's logo on the back. These shirts were a great conversation starter for our group. It really is cool to spread the word about what we are doing to the people who appoarched us to ask us about our shirts. We aren't even on the plane yet and we have shared with a dozen people what God has called us to do. Every place that the group has stopped for food or supplies, we have been met with 'God bless', 'Thank you', and 'oh, that's wonderful'.
During the journey we have receive many prayer cards that we have read at various times. We are so fortunate to have people back home praying for us, we are also praying for you. We are so grateful that God has included you in this mission.
A word from a missionary - Zack:
'As I am writing this we are still 3 hours from the Mexico boarder. This is my 8th trip down to Mexico and this journey never ceases to excite me. When I think back to my first trip this long day of travel had me asking so many question about where I'm going, who is going to be there, and what am I suppose to expect. But as I am sitting in a different, but very familiar white van with friends and family for the 8th time, I find myself excited and asking a whole new array of questions. Questions like, what is Fransisco and Jenny's new baby like, how is Fernando doing, do they have any soccer games I can go to, will Pedro tell more stories around the campfire on hobo pack dinner night, and does Francisco still play Clash of Clans. This trip for me isn't about going to a foreign Land anymore, it's about going and seeing how my friends are doing and how we can serve our creator together, and I cannot wait to get there.
I am so thankful for all of the people who have supported me and this mission. Never did I think I would be the most veterened missionary on this trip (in terms of times in San Luis). But I am so happy to be here with my parents, Carrie, Jenna, Hannah, and LeeAnn. I pray that my friends and family in this van (and at home) get to experience the joy of meeting life long Christian friends who they can share memories with.
Thank you to everyone who made this possible, and I thank God that I have the ability to do this.'
