WHO NEEDS CHRISTMAS? Week 2
We all tend to think of Christmas as a holiday that’s about God, but not really for God. After all, Christmas is really for us, right? The truth is, the first Christmas wasn’t just for people—it was for God as well. This week, we’ll discover that not only did the world need Christmas to understand God’s love, but God needed it, too
Goal of Small Groups:
To help students understand that Christmas proves to us how far God will go to demonstrate His love for us.
Galatians 4:4-5 - But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.
Romans 5:8 - but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Acts 3:14-15 - But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.
Matthew 1:20-23 - But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins." All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:
"Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall call his name Immanuel"
(which means, God with us).
